Uptown Blvd, STE 2000 Cedar Hill, Texas 75104 Happy Wellness to Everyone,  Question: How many people have experienced hatred or some type of discrimination in a healthcare setting? There are some people that are in the field of healthcare just for a paycheck. Regardless of the patient's sexual preferences, cultural backgrounds, or any other affiliations. As healthcare professionals, I believe we should learn from our patients and embrace their beliefs systems. We should never believe that our healthcare systems or perso nal beliefs are better than theirs. Embracing does not mean to convert, but to become aware of the differences and treat them with respect they deserve. There are many types of discrimination in healthcare such as ageism (elderly), stigma (one disease is worse than the other, weight (against fat people), LGBT (religious prejudice against gay folks), etc. These are all fireable offences and can cost th

Our Seasons

Happy Wellness Everybody,  Well, Its such a beautiful day out. Yep its cold, but the world is going through a change in season. Our health, mindset, and our ability to walk our wellness journey fruitful depends upon the season in out lives. For example, seasons such as spring represents birth, Adolescence/adulthood represents summer due to the youthfulness, Late adulthood/elderly represents autumn, and death represents winter. We can avoid early seasonal changes by incorpora ting good healthy habits (i.e. mediating, health eating and substituting, and lastly proper exercising and relaxation). Life should be a world of fun. Yes, sometimes it has a bumps and cracks in the road that may make you stumble, but the good thing is that YOU are still here to talk about the experience. So, see yourself in a season of happiness, health, and tranquility. Take care and be in good health.

The Power of Pet Therapy

Have you noticed that pets can change a person's mood? Pets can add years to your life by calming a person down during a stressful time. I believe God put pets here for companionship and not to abuse. Studies have been conducted regarding outside stressor vs. animal interaction. Based on the data collected, most people that have common domesticated animals such as dogs or cats tend to have a reduction in high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases. Pet therapy may also help patients within their individual coping strategies with various diseases and conditions such as joint replacements, heart disease, and cancer (Mayo Clinic, 2012).   If you have not already done so, check out your local SPCA and adopt a friend or two. Adopting an older pet can become a match made in heaven because most may be trained to do tricks! A domesticated (house pet) does not necessary have to be a dog or a cat. The animal can be a fish, a turtle, a bird, or any type of pet that adds well

The Power of Dreaming

Happy Wellness to yall, I hope that everything is fine so far on this cold Monday afternoon :). I wanted to educate you about dreaming. Most would say this is a goal message, but no (very important I may add). When you sleep at night, your brain goes through four stages of sleeping patterns. The most important one is the Rapid Eye Movement (REM). In this stage, your body paralyzes itself to prevent you from sleep walking or acting out your dreams. Patients with this issue state “something held me down or something attacked them in my sleep.” Nope, it is your brain shutting off the power to your rest of your body causing you to lie still until the cycle is over.             Dreaming detoxes the subconscious portion of your brain (you ID personality). This portion of your brain has the ability to think outside the laws of society. Think of this as the free spirited portion of your brain. It does what it feels is right despite the laws of the land that say differently. Most people dream g

Life's Canvas

Good morning, I'm up pretty early and I'm super excited to be in the place where I am in life. My motto is "life is a blank canvas and you hold the brush." The choice in color, dynamic of scenery, and how big you want your canvas to be is all left up to you. For those that didn't get the picture, think about your life and paint a picture of where you want to be. We can't live the dark past (it happens to the best of us) rise higher and never perceive yourself to be a product of your surrounding. You are better than that. When you think that you can't paint anymore, just know that your higher power will give you the strength needed to finish life's course strong. Take care and be in good health.

What is Acceptance

P.C.D.I Healthcare and Consultants of Texas, LLC 610. Uptown Blvd, Suite 2000 Cedar Hill, Texas 75104 Office: (469) 523-1395 Ext 1395 www.pcdiwg.webs.com I asked this question to many in the twitter feeds, linkedin, and other social media sites. What does acceptance mean to you? I personally believe acceptance is like window shopping, when we are the person looking in, it looks good, and socially correct to others that are in our group OR our own perception. If we chose to go in, it might be of a different story. The acceptance of ones race, religious beliefs, etc may come at a price. I am asking you to be open to change (get to know a person of a different racial background, culture, or religion) learning something new about it and dont be scared to say what you feel about just be respectful.  Assignment: The best way get immersed into a different culture is to taste the food. Yes, I love to eat lol BUT this is a good way to ask the waiter or the owner about the recipes o
