My Goals for the Season

Have you ever asked yourself could my health get better? or how can I improve my life?  I am guilty of asking myself these questions over and over daily.  Most consumers believe that if something is wrong with me then there must be a pill or tonic to cure it.  In some cases there may not be such a quick cure to our problems.  I took those questions and with the help of my instructor, I being to think about rating my current status both physically, mentally, and most important spiritually.  I want you as the audience to do the same too.  By sitting in a quite room and with a honest opinion look at your current status and rate it from 1 to 10 (1=terrible - 10 best).  I rate myself current health status as a 8 because of the common cold, stress of running a company, and family.  These many also be hidden stressors for you also.  I have acknowledged the fact that somethings in my life also needs work just as any human on the face of the earth.

The next thing I have to look at is not the problem but the solution to my current number.  I have developed a goal list for myself in how I can improve my overall number to a 10!  I suggest as a Health care Profession, get you a pad and a piece of paper and even a cup of joe (coffee).  Think about the current situation and write your feeling down about each problem. Then a solution to the current problem in these following areas
Physical, Spiritual, and Psychological.  I will give an example of the problem statement and then the solution or goal I wish to correct this problem.

Physical Problem: Stress from work and less time for myself
Goal:  I will make at least 5 minutes of time for mediation and reflection time for myself.  I will cut the phones off at lunch time and really focus on something else such as music on you tube, pc games, or talking with a fellow colleague.

Spiritual Problem: I am a Christian and it is important to me to be in tune with God's word and start my work day with a reading and mediation time with him.
Goal: I will take time by rising earlier in the morning to seek his word in prayer and supplication.  There are DVD's and audio tapes that I will use to get closer to the word of God.  I will take time at least 15 minutes a day to seek him in mediation and prayer.

Psychological: I am so worried about other people and their problems.  I have been in the medical arts for 15 years and counting.  As a health care provider and son it is essential that learn to concentrate on self and not everybody else.  "I must tender to my own yard before going to help the neighbors."
Goal: I will take tine to evaluate my current situation and how can I make my problem go away.  I don't presay have problem that are so tough to handle but stress get me down sometimes but when I listen to the right song and pray about it. The problem disappear quickly.

I believe always that if God (Jesus) is the Captain of the ship there is no way that you can go off the course that you are destant to go.  There are several CD's that are out there to help in self guidance mediation such as "crime of the century".  The title yes I know can be quite an eye catcher but it is not what it seemed.  The self guidance tape was more of a reflection exam of yourself mentally and with relaxation techniques how stress can be alleviated.  I do not have a link to share with you but there are always other books and tapes that can be used including music that words can make sense at a pacific time to an answer that you seek.

Here is a link to a live prayer service that is done 24hours a day by a licensed Minister (chaplain).  This is totally non-denomination prayer and mediation music service.

  1. Anthony - I liked how you stated a challenge in each of these areas and then listed a practical way to work at improving your current state of integral health. Knowing that we can research almost anything on the Internet gives us easy access to helpful tools in any of these areas as well. I like reading how firm you are in your faith in Christ and that you trust Him to be steering your vessel. At different seasons of our life our ratings of these three areas will fluctuate and our focus on change will vary to keep ourselves balanced and whole. Writing down assessments and goals are a concrete way to identify what's out of sync.
