Organizational Mentoring

Mentoring is defined as a servant who desires to teach, monitor, and discover new methods on how to make others successful.  A mentor places their wants and desires second to the mentee.  That does not mean that the mentee needs are more important, but it means that the mentors’ pride must be in check once the mentee has achieved their goals.  The role of a mentor is a guide or a navigator and never a political force of negativity.
Picture the mentor as a parent who is teaching their child how to ride a bike for the first time.  The mentor sets the tone by counting and prepping the mentee to pedal when being pushed.  The mentor them pushes the bike while holding on to the seat until there is enough speed and then the mentor will let go.  This will then force the mentee to take on the tasks themselves with the mentor cheering in the background.  The underlining terms gives a description of how the relationship between and mentor and a mentee should be.
1.      Prepping – Getting the mentee to see the vision and the requirements that it will take to get to the end goal.
2.      Pedal – This the time in which the mentee and the mentor sits down and discuss goal setting and getting the plan in operational order before taking off or launching.
3.      Pushes – This is the time in which the plan is launched and the mentee need more support and encouragement to continue (fight, fight, fight!)
4.      Speed – As the mentor, you set the tone and the speed in which the mentee can accomplish the goal.  Some mentees learn faster than others; therefore, recognizing the mentees’ pedagogy levels is very important to prevent setback or stalls (audio, visual, kinetic).
5.      Let go – This is the time in which you can see the mentee demonstrate independence in judgement and in skill.
I hope that this message helps many people learn the art of becoming a mentor instead of a hindering force or just a person who gives advice.  Mentorship is a gift that must be carefully disseminated to fellow employees, students, etc in efforts to prevent a waste in time and efforts.

Take care and be in good health,

The Sudtle Mind

Take and deep breath and let it out very slowly now open your eyes and ask yourself how do I feel?  Breathing, we take it for granted every time we take in a deep breath.  We tend to not think about it until we are no longer able to do it on our own.  Breathing is an essential part of our relaxation and calmness in our everyday lives, we are not just aware of it.  Breathing is the focal point of our health and wellness and in other activities such as mediation, yoga, and prayer.  I really feel that the physical, spiritual, and mental aspects of a person are one.  There is no one person that can live without one of these points in life.  I believe as a caregiver and administrator that if a patient lacks a positive attitude and holds frustration, anger, and unforgiveness the patient will present with sickness and disease. In the CD from Integral Health, The Path to Human Flourishing written by E. Dacher, focuses on breathing and letting of all the tr...

My Goals for the Season

Have you ever asked yourself could my health get better? or how can I improve my life?  I am guilty of asking myself these questions over and over daily.  Most consumers believe that if something is wrong with me then there must be a pill or tonic to cure it.  In some cases there may not be such a quick cure to our problems.  I took those questions and with the help of my instructor, I being to think about rating my current status both physically, mentally, and most important spiritually.  I want you as the audience to do the same too.  By sitting in a quite room and with a honest opinion look at your current status and rate it from 1 to 10 (1=terrible - 10 best).  I rate myself current health status as a 8 because of the common cold, stress of running a company, and family.  These many also be hidden stressors for you also.  I have acknowledged the fact that somethings in my life also needs work just as any human on the face of the eart...
